Uh-oh: Nancy Grace takes on Lavergne

If you thought the Corner Pantry’s sign Friday — “Brandon Scott Lavergne burn in hell” — was at the very least premature, wait until tonight. HLN host Nancy Grace, who has driven one suspect to suicide and routinely tries and convicts the accused on her crime-centered talk show, is sharpening her talons for Lavergne, the 33-year-old convicted sex offender charged with the kidnapping and murder of 22-year-old Lafayette college student Mickey Shunick.

On her website, Grace is promoting tonight’s show with uppercase urgency: “DID REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER KILL 21-YEAR-OLD CO-ED BEAUTY? : Police say a 33-year-old registered sex offender kidnapped & murdered missing college co-ed last seen riding her bike home from her friend’s house. But where is Mickey Shunick’s body?”

Lavergne’s “trial” airs at 7 p.m.

It is important to remember who Nancy Grace's last target was. She went after Kasey Anthony. Her continuos pressure, in my opinion, created a mass of pressure on the Florida judicial system. What should have been a manslaughter charge was turned into an easily beatable 1st degree murder charge.

Nancy Grace is a dangerous woman. She will jeapordize justice if she decides to take this case to the headlines.

I was very disappointed in her coverage of the Mickey Schnick case. She brought nothing more to the conversation and just repeated facts of the case that those who have been following it are all ready aware of. It came across as nothing more as an opportunity for her to sensationalize the case for her own benefit. And to dump on the city of Lafayette as a town that allows Sex Offenders to run free to seek out prey was unfair. The citizens of this city have been sick about the fact that this young lady is missing and appears to have fallen prey to a deviant sex offender. Most sex offender across American benefit from the "freedoms" that Lavergne benefited from that allowed him to perpetrate this heinous crime. But for her to give her "national" audience the impression that Lafayette is the wild wild west for sex offenders was unfair to the people who have been aiding non stop day and night in attempting to get Mickey back to her family by all means necessary. I continue to hold out hope that Miss Schunick will be brought back safely to her family and friends.
