Lafayette Public Library is joining the digital age with its new mobile app, allowing users to check out books by scanning them directly from the shelf among several other cool features for mobile users.

According to the library, the app also enables users to “search the catalog, use My Account to place holds and renew items, request new material and scan books to access product reviews and check availability at the library.”

The libary app, which also affords users the opportunity to browse available eBooks/eAudiobooks on OverDrive and check out or download them directly from the mobile app, is described as a way to “keep the library at your fingertips.”

In addition to the new app, Facebook users can follow Lafayette Public Library via its Facebook page and have questions answered by a librarian.

For iPhone users, the app is available for download here.
