Hear Super Cooper’s ‘progress report’ Nov. 14

Lafayette Parish Superintendent of Schools Pat Cooper joins IND Monthly’s Lecture Series Wednesday, Nov. 14, to discuss the progress of his turnaround plan.

It’s a powerful new vision for public education: educate every child from pre-kindergarten through graduation while building a Class A school system for this community in just six years.

Imagine a world-class education for all of the children in our community, 100 percent in, 100 percent out. That’s Cooper’s vision, and the aspiration is under way right now in classrooms throughout the parish. Because our school system is our largest local institution, it represents systemic change of a scale never before experienced here.

Such change is toughest in the early stages, especially when a system is being substantially repurposed.

pat_cooperBut Cooper has a track record of success in shepherding transformative change in some of the most challenging school districts on the Gulf Coast. He’s ready to share the local plan’s successes and challenges so far, and let the community know how it can help maintain the momentum for change. Hear what he has to say at 12:15 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Picard Learning Center, 200 E. Devalcourt St. (behind LITE).

Theatre-style seating with a box lunch for the event is $15; admission is free for the presentation only, but please RSVP as seating is limited. IND Monthly’s Lecture Series is presented by IberiaBank.
