You could say newly elected (though certainly not new to the seat) New Iberia City Councilman Raymond “Shoe-Do” Lewis is off to a bad start.

Voters overwhelmingly elected Shoe-do to his old District 5 seat on the council with 64 percent of the vote, 1,236 total of the 1,940 cast.

Lewis called the victory “sweet,” according to The Daily Iberian, and then left no one wondering how he feels about Mayor Hilda Curry.
“I am fiscally responsible,” he said. “I am looking forward to working with Hilda Rose Daigre Curry for fiscal responsibility. Other than that, she can kiss my a--.”
Lewis unseated incumbent O’Neal Jones III, who was elected to take Lewis’ vacant seat on the council after Lewis resigned in 2010 to serve on the Iberia Parish School Board.
