The Jones Communications Company distributed the survey in an email blast sent out to about 4,000 Lafayette Parish residents on Tuesday.

The survey starts off asking respondents whether their child attends public or private school, followed by questions like:

- Which do you think is outstanding for your child’s education?
o Level of Rigor (high educational standards)
                 o Nurturing atmosphere
                 o Academic Assistance
-  What do you feel is the most important trait for a school to possess?
                 o Rigor
                 o Relationships
                 o Both
- Would you be willing to support a private school that is well-rounded with high academic standards in a nurturing     environment that concentrates on the development of the whole child?
                  o Yes
                  o No

“This is a group of private citizens looking into the possibility of building a private school on the south side of town,” says Amy Jones of Jones Communications.

The group, Jones says, has asked to remain anonymous since the project is still only an idea.

“This is in the infant stages,” Jones says. “They’re just looking for feedback.”

Jones says her company randomly distributed the 10 question survey — free-of-charge — to about 4,000 people from all parts of the parish.

“It was a completely random selection," says Jones. “No demographics of age, party affiliation or anything like that was used. And we did it for no cost in this particular situation because they asked for it to be free as a favor. They created the questionnaire, and I just put it together and sent it out.”
