Thank God Almighty, the likelihood of being properly embalmed in Louisiana skyrockets beginning Jan. 1, 2013 as Act 176, signed by Gov. Bobby Jindal last May, finally goes into effect. The act, previously known as House Bill 161 by state Rep. Harold Ritchie, D-Bogalusa, establishes a continuing education system for embalmers and funeral directors.
