[Update, 4 p.m. Monday: Lafayette Police spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton says while the investigation into the accident that injured Lynne Durel and Mazie Movassaghi is ongoing, traffic investigators did issue a citation to Dwayne Sonnier, 48, of Scott for improper lane usage with a crash.]
City-Parish President Joey Durel's wife, Lynne, and her good friend/exercise partner Mazie Movassaghi are both out of ICU after sustaining serious injuries in a four-car accident on Ambassador Caffery Parkway at Englewood Drive Friday morning.
Both women had to undergo surgery, but neither family has released details on the extent of the women's injuries.

Joey Durel was upbeat in a text reply this morning, hopeful his wife will be home as early as Tuesday. "Her spirits are fine, as usual," he says. "I think she fears my nursing 'skills,' so she is fine staying another day or two."
Like Lynne, Mazie, the wife of Fenstermaker President Kam Movassaghi, is a civic and charitable volunteer. A master gardener, Mazie also was recently named to the nonprofit Lafayette Central Park Inc.
Kam says his wife, who was driving, is progressing well, but he is unsure when she will be released from the hospital. "She will need several weeks of rehab to be able to get on her foot," he says.
Joey says the two women walk together most mornings and were headed to Acadiana Mall for their workout Friday morning when the accident happened. North and southbound traffic was shut down for about an hour.
The two women were hit head-on, and it remains unclear whether anyone else was hospitalized. Lafayette Police have not released any additional information on the incident.
Lafayette PD spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton said he would get back with The IND after checking for updates from the department's traffic investigator.
