The Lafayette Parish School Board unsealed its evaluation Wednesday of Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper, and despite ongoing contentions with some board members, his cumulative average came out alright.

On a scale of zero to eight, with eight meaning “distinguished” and zero “unsatisfactory,” Cooper’s score - the average of all board member’s assessments- came in at 4.067, which means “good.”

Responding to a question from board member Tehmi Chassion on whether the individual board member assessments would be made public, LPSB legal counsel James Simon said it’s up to the superintendent.

“I haven’t decided if I will share it with the full board or not,” replied Cooper. “This is my first experience with this type of evaluation, and I plan on first looking at them and deciding on way I can start improving.
