Charter hopefuls await LPSB, state

A group denied a charter application by the Lafayette Parish School Board in December of last year has challenged the board’s review process and awaits redress from state education officials, according to an article in today's Advocate.

Outreach Community Development Corp. wants to convert N.P. Moss Middle School into Harvest Preparatory Academy. OCDC charges that the school board failed to consult a third party to review the application, as state law mandates. According to The Advocate, the school board is awaiting word from the state about whether a two-thirds vote by the board is required to place OCDC’s charter application back on an agenda for discussion.
