The news is high water in the Atchafalaya Basin and the potential for flooding. On one hand, there is state Rep. Sam Jones, from Franklin, who told The Advocate, “We will probably see water at levels we haven’t seen since we were kids once the snow melts.” Then there’s St. Mary Parish President Paul Naquin Jr., who told The Advocate that if the Spring weather is dry, there shouldn’t be a problem.

Both officials are urging the Army Corps of Engineers and residents to be prepared, and the parish is handing out sandbags. We’ll keep a weather eye, just in case. You can read the whole story here.
