Former state rep candidate on hook for $8K in ethics fines

The Louisiana Ethics Board will consider an application Friday afternoon for a rehearing filed by an also-ran  in the Feb. 24, 2007 special election for the state representative District 40 seat. Chris Declouette has piled up $8,000 in fees in connection with filing campaign finance records late.

According to board records, the board filed suit against Declouette in December 2009, more than a year after the panel levied the penalty against him. Board records also indicate that Declouette, through his attorney, requested a $100-per-month payment schedule and has made one such payment. But the matter remains before the 19th Judicial District Court; the case was continued in February pending the outcome of today’s hearing. The recommendation before the board is that the request be denied.

Declouette was one of six candidates in the District 40 election, which was eventually won in a run-off by Elbert Guillory. Declouette garnered 404 votes among nearly 6,000 cast.

How did this sleeze character miss being elected, he has proven rather late, post-elections, his political strong points, he will probably have the penalty dismissed, but only if he runs again, such fine outstanding political ambition , he cannot fail !
Mrs Declouette, you have a lovely son.
