Clausen replacement search gearing up

The Board of Regents this week approved the creation of a search committee to spearhead the selection of a new commissioner of higher education to replace Sally Clausen, who announced her resignation June 8 on the heels of a political flap resulting from her admission that she availed herself of the controversial retire-rehire program meant to retain veteran teachers — a move she initially kept from the 16-member board.

While the eight-member search committee represents all regions of the state, no one from Lafayette is on the panel. Board Chairman Artis Terrell says he expects to have a new commissioner identified within six months following a national search. In the meantime, the board will tap an as-yet unnamed interim commissioner, who should be on the job within a month.

Hope this search committee is more "honest" than the

a) search committee that she "ran", for the ULL President (which was an inside job from day one)

b) the search committee that re-hired her (after her one day retirement)

c) the sham Sally pulled to get on the "more prestigious" LSU System(when her “boyfriend” on the LSU system engineered the firing of the LSU President, only having to resign from the LSU system when their shenanigans were exposed.)

essgee, you are right, what justifies this “paper pusher” half a million dollar salary; heading an educational system which is the lowest in the nation?

OKAY, listen up egghead.....first you have to have ah mentoh, say like a governor or anyone neah the governor greasing the slide for you, now this is so, if you want a hi-dollah job with less than little to do, but to be available to aid ya mentoh as he rides through the state inspecting his rental properties...Also you should have some education, and some experience in teaching, lower elementary will do just peachy.....

Sally may have resigned, but she won't give up the power that easy....She'll just have her lap dogs on the board and high salary partners in crime like Randy Moffett do her bidding...It's the Louisiana way. God help this state. Bring us new ideas, new blood!

Does anyone really think that Clausen, Moffett, Savoie or any other high level internal candidate in higher ed administration would ever consider applying for their new jobs without 100% commitment from the board already in place. If the past holds true the fix is already in for Sally's replacement. It always is. Again, it's the Louisiana way. God help this state. Bring us new ideas, new blood!
