Caillier pleads guilty in child porn case

Larry Caillier Jr. pleaded guilty Tuesday to a one count Bill of Information that charged him with receiving child pornography. U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley said a sentencing date has not yet been set for the 32-year-old former school teacher, who also once served as alderman for the city of Opelousas.

Caillier was indicted in March of this year on three-counts, production of child pornography, use of a facility in interstate commerce to attempt to coerce a minor to engage in criminal sexual acts, and possession of child pornography. Under the terms of the plea agreement reached with the government, that indictment will be dismissed. His guilty plea Tuesday was to one count of receipt of child pornography. He faces a maximum term of 20 years and a mandatory minimum term of  five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both.

Callier was a teacher at Opelousas High School in February 2010 when he sent text messages to a 15-year-old student at the school asking her to send him sexually explicit images of herself, according to court documents filed Tuesday. As a result of Callier’s request, the student took several sexually explicit images of herself and sent them to him.

The case was investigated by U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and is being prosecuted by assistant U.S. attorneys John Luke Walker and J. Collin Sims.

The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Officials ?
Why wasn't the USDA and the Local Health Board involved in the investigation ?
Better yet, why wasn't the Mayor of OPelousas involved in the investigation, or the SPCA! or The Better Business Bureau ?
I hear the inmates have hung a banner at Angola State Pen. which has on it, WELCOME HOME, LARRY !
