Reality vs. BP publicity machine

In the ongoing battle between BP's publicity (damage control) campaign and the actual reality along the Gulf Coast, the chasm between the two grew a little wider this week. But let's face it, the chasm has always been a little wide since this whole mess began.

In another installment of "Where did the oil go?" here's another great piece from WKRG TV News in Mobile/Pensacola. Aired late in the week, this excellent report on the oil-browned beaches of Gulf Shores illustratess the schism in the sand between BP's trumpet calls of "the oil is all gone" and the reality that oil from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill continues to wash ashore.

Actually, it seems that some people do expect differently. My office mates in the oil and gas industry are crowing about how there's been "no impact" from the spill, how the treehuggers were going ballistic over nothing, how it's impossible for oil to be suspended in the water column, etc. etc.

It's amazing how belief combined with misinformation can rule some people's lives.
