CPC to hear bar closure appeal

The Lafayette City-Parish Council Tuesday will hear an appeal from a popular downtown Lafayette nightclub facing a revocation of its liquor license — a forfeiture that would effectively shutter the business.

The owners of Karma were notified on Aug. 5 that the revocation was to go into effect Aug. 27 pending an appeal, notice of which Karma’s attorney, Daniel Stanford, soon filed with consolidated government. Stanford tells The Independent the bar will file suit if its appeal is denied.
