Jeanerette pants saggers get community service

A recent crackdown on sagging pants in Jeanerette has resulted in community service for three men recently cited for low-riding pants with exposed underwear. Jeanerette is one of a few Louisiana towns to adopt an ordinance mandating that pants be appropriately pulled up. The ordinance makes it "unlawful for any person to be in a state of nudity or partial nudity, or any mode of dress which results in indecent exposure of his or her personal undergarments.”

The Daily Iberian reports Jeanerette police cited five men in July and August for violation of the ordinance. Of those, three agreed to community service in lieu of trial, one had charges dismissed and another failed to appear for his hearing.

Jeanerette Police Chief Larry Jones said the five arrests came after receiving several complaints from residents about exposed underwear and giving numerous warnings to saggers who did not adhere. “We’re getting tired of looking at people’s underwear,” Jones said.

I've got to wonder if Jones and his ilk are the same people that call President Obama a socialist. They are always ready to cry foul when they perceive any slight government intrusion in their lives or business, but when it comes to somebody's grooming habits, then the government needs to step in.

Heynow, you need to get a life. If you don't see anything wrong with little punks wearing their pants at their knees , then you have a problem.

This is the problem with biblical fundamentalists/puritanicals; they see nothing wrong with imposing their extreme worldview on everyone and will happily use the government to do so. And all the while claiming they are for smaller government. They are hypocrites, liars and frauds and are not to be trusted. And if you don't agree with them, you are a socialist, fascist, communist, evil, hate America and/or homosexual. As displayed here, they have no argument so they have to resort to ad hominem attacks.

I really don't care how people dress and I certainly don't want the government telling me what I can wear and how I should wear it.

Justice Man, you showed your true colors when you referred to them as little punks. You are a "little" elitist.
