Bustle era officially ends at noon

Rickey Bustle's nine-year tenure as UL’s head football coach ended during a noon press conference Monday when Athletic Director David Walker announced Bustle's departure. The Daily Advertiser confirmed via a text message exchange with Bustle on Sunday that he would not return for the 2011 season. The Advertiser further reports today that Bustle broke the news to his staff on Friday before the Ragin Cajuns closed out the season with a 23-22 win over UL Monroe; the coach informed players of his status in the locker room following the game.

Bustle and the Cajuns went 3-9 in his final season. The coach leaves the program with an overall record of 41-65 that included four six-win seasons and one winning season and a share of the Sun Belt Conference title. The Cajuns never made a bowl appearance during Bustle’s time at the helm.

Bustle came to Lafayette from Virginia Tech University where he served as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach. He took over a Ragin Cajun program that was in disarray, having gone a dismal 6-27 under former head coach Jerry Baldwin.

Bustle is out and all he did was lose football games. He is a good, honest, straight up man. With that in mind, why, Dr. Savoie(?) is a thief, destroyer of public property, a liar, and a fraud who is Chris Williams still employed by your administration? This is a joke on the taxpayers and students who support UL.

ULL needs to seriously look at how they fund sports. When coaches have to pay for recruiting trips out of their own pockets it is a joke. I do not blame Bustle or any other coach past, present or future for not being able to field a team that div I requires to compete. ULL and the community have failed by not putting up the funds necessary not the coaches. The trend will continue until the community and university get serious. If not then just drop football and funnel all the funds into basket weaving

Who me? No better words have been spoken. Savoie, Williams, Jerry Luke Leblanc are all seeds of the Blanco's.
