Leg. auditor releases LHA findings

The Louisiana Legislative Auditor Monday released its findings and recommendations for the Lafayette Housing Authority, and now it’s up to 15th Judicial District Attorney Mike Harson to decide whether anyone will be prosecuted for violations of state law.

Harson would not comment on the matter Friday, as he had not yet had an opportunity to review the report, which he said had just been faxed to him. On Monday the audit of the Lafayette Housing Authority was posted on the legislative auditor’s website.

The audit covers problems with the LHA’s Disaster Housing Assistance Program, in particular the contract with former City-Parish Councilman Chris Williams, and questions the legality of ex-Executive Director Walter Guillory working for two housing authorities, Lafayette and Opelousas, at the same time. It also notes instances where LHA employees or immediate family members appeared to have entered into contractual relationships with housing authority (in likely violation of state law), questions the use of state grant funds and credit cards and points out possible violations of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development guidelines in hiring professional service vendors.

Access the full report here and read more on the audit in Wednesday’s paper.

Thats one thing about the brothers they will always cut their fellow brothers and family into a piece of the pie, the family who steals together, pockets together, you want to see this at its optimum, check out the federal give-away programs. they'll loan you a set of house numbers with velcro stripping. Then you'll have two residences receiving the welfare checks.

Hey Docy. B., what do you mean, "now we can move on?" Is that it? We're just supposed to let them just steal hundreds of thousands of dollars, abuse public funds, violate the state constitution, as well as break numerous laws, and deprive poor people of much needed housing and funds? "now we can move on..." What's wrong with you? Are you nuts?

The thang about it is-Listen here sparky, don't come around me talking about the constitution, a document that you and your kind ignore when it suits your purpose. Look at the crimes Vitter committed. Look at the crimes Dick and Bush committed. I can go on and on.

What I meant was lets get him prosecuted and move on.

One name that is missing from this roll call of scoundrels is Buddy Webb's. Webb is very much complicit in this entire debacle of wrong doing with public funds. Webb is the one who signed off on all of Walter Guillory's exhorbitant raises. No one else, just Webb. As a banker, Webb had enough sense to realize when the feces was going to hit the air conditioner. He then ran like his pants were on fire. But he cannot outrun documentation. His actions, his lack of action, and his complicity will be brought to bear and Buddy Webb will be taken to task by federal and state authorities. As well he should be.

Freeway? I guess U're referring to the 700 million dollar public waste that is being planned to replace Evangeline Thruway. Heck, for that kind of money, they could and should build a "real" by-pass around Lafayette. But then, that would make to much common sense.

We cannot build a bypass around the city, until the SURVEYOR and the GREENAMBULANCEMAN con the farmers out of their land for pennies on the dollar, the area land owners have wised-up and this is causing the delay on the progression of the LOOP.
IT IS, WHAT IT IS.

Eddie

First, the proposed $700 million dollar price tag would purchase lots of property. The fact is little if any would have to be purchased. Current state roads could be reconstructed to create an acceptable loop around Lafayette. That is provided we had regional planners will to think so.
Second, your vale attempt to cover up U're racism referencing "the brothers and their families" is crude and insulting. It's past time such thinking and expressions are eradicated. Corruption is not endemic to any specific race or creed. It existence is a fact of life requiring combating at each and every level of business and government. Attitudes and expressions such as those you expressed serve absolutely no useful purpose in forwarding the development and improvement of society.

Whoa GV4Man, Just putting a light on the ( Should I say, Problema ) subject, from my prospective, the arrest of development and improvement , Ta Ta *Unveiled.
There can be no solution unless we identify the Problem, or we can continue to bury our head in the sand, and pretend the problem does not exist. *I am dropping a nickle on my own Homey's,( VEILED ? ) and when You, I, and others like us, admit that this problem is indeed a major obstacle in the path of our development, and we band together and instead of ripping off our own people, we solve our own problems, and then we may advance our kind to our proper place in society.
This stigma upon us, is currently being editorialized by one and all thanks to the illegal behavior of our own, Williams and Guillory, you want to whitewash that, or shine an everlasting light on the problem.
