In what is apparently the only opportunity for voters in state Senate District 26 to hear both candidates at the same time, Vermilion Parish Police Juror Nathan Granger and state Rep. Jonathan Perry will participate in a forum on the UL campus Thursday afternoon. Organized by UL journalism professor Robert Buckman, who is also serve as moderator, the forum commences at 2 p.m. in Burke-Hawthorn room 241. A panel of local media including The Independent will ask questions of the candidates.

Perry, a Republican first-term state rep, and Granger, a Democrat in his first term on the police jury, face off Feb. 19 in the special election to replace former Sen. Nick Gautreaux, who resigned to take the post of commissioner of the Office of Motor Vehicles.

The forum is open to the public, but seating is limited.
