TJR: More on Mouton’s Heebie Jeebies

The Jefferson Report takes a closer look at some of the personal communications that link former Wildlife and Fisheries Commissioner Henry Mouton of Lafayette to what it calls “Louisiana’s stinkiest landfill deal.” Mouton has been charged with conspiracy, receiving illegal payoffs and lying to the FBI. Read more about his troubles and alleged attempts to keep the Old Gentilly Landfill closed in this week’s lead news story, “O, Henry.”

U.S. Attorney Jim Letten alleges that Mouton used his authority as an appointed commissioner to contact federal agencies, elected officials and others to keep the landfill closed while he was taking a half million dollars in bribes from another landfill operator, identified only as “co-conspirator A” but believed to be Fred Heebe. Heebe owns River Birch Inc. with his stepfather, Jim Ward; its offices were raided by federal agents in September.

TJR got its hands on some of Mouton's emails. Read more here.

It will be interesting to see if he gets treated any better than a brother who steals a set of rims.

I hope they all burn & may they rot in Hell too. I was totally disgusted with ALL the sweetheart deals going on at that time. I particularly enjoyed the email revealing the GOOD WILL BETWEEN OATS & THE BLANCOS!!! And "Coach" is known for taking care of "his boys" thru the years. I'd like to see more emails regarding the Blancos & their friends and business deals during the Katrina fiasco. Corruption, from the Gov's office to the "food stamp line". Its all the same.
