A bill by state Sen. Rob Marionneaux, D-Livonia, that would phase out personal and corporate income taxes paid to the Louisiana treasury will go before the full Senate this week. The bill cleared the Senate Revenue & Fiscal Affairs Committee last week by a narrow, 19-17 margin.

The bill would trim personal and corporate income taxes in small increments — depending on level of income — over the next four years and eliminate such taxes by 2015. A similar bill in the House by Rep. Hunter Greene, R-Baton Rouge, is scheduled for debate before the full House on Tuesday.
