Pierre announces bid for state House 44

                                 Vince Pierre
Lafayette businessman Vince Pierre has announced his intention to make state Rep. Rickey Hardy, D-Lafayette, a one-term lawmaker. The 47-year-old co-owner of a Lafayette dry-cleaning business and nephew of former state Rep. Wilfred Pierre, who held the seat before Hardy, says he will seek the state House District 44 seat in the October election. The district covers most of the north side of the city of Lafayette.

“I have often been interested in working as a public servant, working for people in the Lafayette area,” Pierre says. “I’ve worked on Wilfred’s campaigns a number of times, and I have just always had an interest in being in political office.”

Pierre graduated from Holy Rosary Institute and Southern University in Baton Rouge as well as the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Lafayette Program. He is active in several area civic organizations including Boy Scouts and Acadiana Youth. He is married with three sons — 12-year-old twins Joshua and Kyle, who are 7th graders at L.J. Alleman Arts Academy; and 4-year-old Luke, who will be a kindergartner in the French Immersion Program at Prairie Elementary next school year. He says education and economic development will be the focal points of his campaign.

“One of the things that I’m really concentrating on is educational improvement. In District 44 we have failing schools. We have schools that have been challenged,” Pierre says, adding that “District 44 is the front yard of Lafayette as I normally tell everyone, and I am very interested in trying to develop that area so we can gain employment and companies to build here.”

The three-day qualifying period for the Oct. 22 primary begins Sept. 6.

So surprising. The child of a term-limited legislator now running for his dad's seat. Never saw this one coming when term-limits was passed!

This is the best news since the invention of french toast. Slick rick hardy is a barricade to the progress of north lafayette. I worked on Wilfred's campaign for nearly every city council election that he ran.

Pack your bags you light weight, we're moving you out.

Sounds to me like you want to take your Uncle’s place in gaming the system, a la Chris Williams. Didn't Uncle Wilfred have that fake tutoring center on Madeline Street that was shut down by Rep. Hardy, when it was discovered that it didn't tutor any poor kids, but instead siphoned off $300,000 in grant money that went to Pierre’s family and friends. You're going to have to come with a lot more than a nice suit to beat Hardy.

Actually, it was over $500,000 siphoned off by Pierre in about 3 years. The Legislative Audit of N. St. Antoine Services, Inc. is available on the Legislative Auditor's website. Billy Mike Dauphin, Pierre's Two Frenchman Janitorial Service, Pierre's legislative office, and North St. Antoine Services, Inc. were all housed in the same building at 300 Madeline Street with the state legislature paying $500 per month rent plus utilities to Dauphin. They were all in there with rent being paid by the taxpayers. Dauphin received a salary of $45,000 per year as the administrator of N. St. Antoine Services, Inc. and even bought a van to transport non-existent students. This was a major expose of the Pierres and their co-horts on Channel 10, "The Advertiser," and "The Independent." Just what we need: a do nothing but sponge off the taxpayers nephew of do nothing but sponge off the taxpayers former city councilman and former state representative. The Pierre name recognition with corruption and do nothing elected official will cost nephew Vincent more votes than it will win him. And rightly so. Besides, what public service has Vincent Pierre ever performed other than to serve himself at the expense of the public and learned all of the that in the same building with, and the employ of, uncle Wilfred?

All the while Pierre was state rep. for District 44 there never a newsletter or session update for his constituents. Pierre avoided the media at all costs and kept an incredibly low profile. The reason, as exposed by Rickey Hardy, was that Pierre did NOTHING! Pierre did nothing for the taxpayers of District 44. Pierre did to them by making sure that over half a million in NGO funds went to his North St. Antoine Services, Inc. His nephew, Vincent PIERRE, was with him in the same building in his employ the entire time. In this article, Vincent PIERRE admits to working closely with his uncle while Wilfred PIERRE was a state rep. So he had to know what was going on and he was more than likely a party to this chicanery and theft of taxpayer monies. Now he wants to be elected to public office with no other experience that close relative and associate of a known thief? Wad up wit dat?

Pierre has the audacity in this article to say, “One of the things that I’m really concentrating on is educational improvement. In District 44 we have failing schools. We have schools that have been challenged."

Pierre says this and is attempting to run against a man elected four times to the school board and who has done more for education and the people while in the legislature than anyone could have imagined possible.

Rickey Hardy singlehandedly raised the GPA in the entire state for students who want to participate in athletics. And, his action forced the LHSAA to change their policy as well. Instead of showboating during the Jena Six debacle as did Kenny Boudreaux and Chris Williams, Rickey Hardy went to Baton Rouge and had a law passed making the displaying of a hangman's noose to intimidate a crime. When an elderly lady was attacked and killed by dogs that got away from their owner, Hardy went to Baton Rouge and passed a law making the owners liable. When the men behind the scenes of the LHA scandel were allowed to loophole their way out of accountability due to a law passed while Wifred Pierre was in office, Rickey Hardy went to Baton Rouge to have that law changed and it was.

Now Vincent Pierre is going around telling African Americans that Rickey Hardy only helps white people. What an out and out racist statement to make! Rickey Hardy helps all the people he can help and fights for what is right. Period. As I recall his campaign slogan was, "The Man For All The People." By God, he has sure as hell lived up to that for he does help all the people no matter what color they are. We need people like Rickey Hardy who promote racial harmony and not Pierre who is promoting racial bigotry. This is very sas indeed, but it is to be expected because he is a Pierre.

Vincent Pierre has not spoken with his wife, from who he is separated, and three sons in over four months. Pierre has not paid child support in six months. Not to mention the fact that Pierre has a new baby with a woman outside of his marriage. This man abandoned his family and is running for public office. How can he be a good state representative when he cannot be a good husband and father? Any contributors to Pierre’s campaign will probably have their money used by Pierre for child support for his four children. Yes, that’s four. I’m counting the child fathered outside of his marriage. Maybe Mike Harson needs to be notified about Pierre’s non-support to his family.
When Pierre worked for the LA Lottery, he was fired for sexual harassment and that is a matter of record which can, and will, be verified. Pierre abandoned his family, is a dead beat dad, a philanderer, was fired from a political job for sexual harassment, has no previous elected experience at anything, and he now wants to be elected by the people as a state representative. Is he insane?

Let me take the time to write a few lines. As I take a look out into this sea of foolish comments I see one thing, treachery. This kind of behavior has one person's name written all over it, Rickey Hardy. He is known for mudslinging and try to win elections by defaming the character of others. It is important to recognize that you don't get into school yard fights with individuals that have no tact, class, or decorum. This is tasteless and serves a sure indicator that the Hardy team is on the tract they are use to. Lets talk about facts Rickey Hardy took 300,000+ dollars from children even when he became the Rep. he gave the money back to Governor Jindal. The second thing is if these people making these unfounded charges were intelligent and had watched the announcement they would recognize that Vincent's children were present. What we also know is the Rickey Hardy ALMOST ALWAYS votes JINDAL...HARDY=JINDAL.....lets take the time to really talk about the issues like how Hardy voted to close a school that is giving nontraditional students a chance. Lets talk about Hardy trying to pass a bill that David Duke originally tried to pass. Lets talk about how hardy did't have a 2.5 in high school. Ladies and gentleman lets recognize that a vote for Hardy is a vote for Bobby Jindal. I am disgusted that these people on this site have nothing better to do than defame the character of a man running for office. Let Hardy run on the merit of his position and his votes that were mostly votes in favor of Jindal and see if he wins in this district. Until then go fly a kite.

Lets stop the bashing. This behavior has Rickey Hardy written all over it. I am sorry that in today's society we have people that have no tact, no class, and no decorum. I am certain that if you look at this issue and see these comments they stem from him and his team. It makes no claim about something that Vincent has done or not done in the community instead it stinks of classless and tactless attacks in order to taint the image of a man that is running for office. You all have very nasty things to say but take a look at Rickey and how he is the lap dog of BOBBY JINDAL. HE VOTES WITH HIM EVERY TIME. I AM SORRY BUT FOR THIS ELECTION......QUOTE ME, "ANYBODY BUT RICKEY". HIS AN UNCLE TOM AND A SELL-OUT.

Methinks that Veracity and Kick Rocks are one and the same person: Vincent Pierre. In fact, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the same dialog in both postings. And, why is it that when a black public official works for people of all colors, he is called an Uncle Tom or a sell-our? And when white public officials only work for their white constituents, they are called racist? Hardy doesn't vote with Jindal, he votes for what he believes is right.

If the posts in support of Rickey Hardy are telling the truth about the Pierres, then the voters of District 44 have a right to know everything. We all know that in politics, all is fair game. Pierre is starting off not telling the truth about himself and that is a bad sign. Omission of facts is still a lie no matter what color you are.

No one can defame Pierre's character any more than he has done to himself. Hr has absolutely no experience other than that gleened from his corrupt uncle, Wilfred. To get fired from the LA Lottery for sexual harassment? That is not defaming him. That is letting the public know what the nature of his character is. We do not need a misogynist and a philanderer as a state representative.

UNBELIEVABLE!!! As I read all the comments posted here, I can't help but wonder what has happened to the values taught to this particular generation, that is seemingly so opinionated involving the PERSONAL business of two political figures(more so one than the other)challenging one another in order to represent the 44th district. I have heard very little argument pertaining to the actual ISSUES of this particular election. I, however, have heard more in reference toward the personal lives & relationships involving the two candidates at hand. One may ATTEMPT to justify by saying, "it's all about character". I must be very CANDID @ this point. (I've already wasted , it seems, too much time on this matter as it is). I don't know who to feel sorry for the most here. (1) The candidates. One of which will face the IMPOSSIBLE task of satisfactorily serving the people(YOU ALL)who possess such a RIDICULOUS assessment being displayed through these comments, or (2) You, the people, who has two candidates to decide between, that has so much irrelevant baggage. After all, is it REALLY any of your business in the first place? DISGUSTING! Question... how many of YOU actually live in a glass house w/no skeletons? Reminds me of "slavery mentality". They should be commended, if anything, for displaying at least the courage to run for office in the first place! Having said that, I wouldn't vote for either of the two!!! You ALL should be ashamed of yourselves for being so judgmental! Look at what you have reduced yourselves to. Name calling, forwarding rumors, assuming responsibility of judge, jury aaand executioner! How elementary! "Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone". Sorry, I like to read a little.

You see, I live out of state, but was actually raised in Lafayette. I happen to be familiar QUITE well w/both the Pierre's & the Hardy's. One more than the other. And I have to say, I am EMBARRASSED to admit this mentality represent my roots in part! WOWOWOWOW! Way to teach the children of our future. Can't wait to see how that all plays out. Are you kidding me? Sounds like a bunch of soap opera characters. Grow up

I have known Vincent for over 20 years through business association. I've associated with him, his wife and children both on a social and business level. I know the situation with his previous Job with the Lotery...He resigned to persue a business venture. The divorce he is going through right now was innetiated by his wife, not him, which had nothing to do with a child out of the marriage. He and his wife communicate daily especially concerning the children. The children stays with him most of the times and almost every afternoon you can find he and his boys in the park. Last, but not least...His uncle Wilfred should be facing criminal prosecution, if everything Ricky's people saying is true. The fact is, Ricky's accusations has been unfounded. Look at the facts...See how much funding Wilfred brought to this community compared to what Ricky is doing right now. VINCENT, I understand the spiritual concept of turning the other cheak...but come on...get your people to clear up all of these lies.

I agree with you lions1079 but the problem is that Pierre and others in that group continue to make others in the community feel like they are lesser than them. They want people to belive that they are better. You are right everyone has baggage. The race should be about the issues. However, the facts are that Hardy like him or not has exposed those that have proclaimed to help the needy in the community and they were doing the opposite by hurting and stealing from everyone in the community. This is fact. These are not rumors and must be said. I myself am tired of all of it to. But, it is time to move forward and get fresh faces with new ideas so that people can belive again. If you believe that saying those things are wrong ,then you have been away to long. You are right it is time to grow up. Let's make a smart vote this fall and pray that we can do away with the negative stuff. I just thank God that Janell will not be a part of this to help influence the uneducated on how to vote. The real issue is that there are no real leaders in our community. The only reason why I will vote is to a least make sure the ole school stays out. Ricky may not be the greatest choice but at this point the only choice. Peace.

Allegations against Pierre should and must be known by the public. His personal life is very much subject to scrutiny if he wants to run for public office. How Pierre conducts his personal business will mirror how he conducts the public's business. Pierre, based on his family background, his past work history, his guilty by association with known ne'er do wells, and his non payment of his child support obligations, render him an unfit candidate for any public office. Elected or appointed. The public is not stupid. We know we've got a winner and a fighter in Rickey Hardy.

Vincent Pierre has always been a dedicated husband and father. Yes he and his wife are separated, however, they communicate regularly and she is supporting his run in this election. Together they are raising their three children to continue to be the happy children that they are.

Vincent resigned from the Louisiana Lottery in order to pursue a dream of being an entrepreneur, and for that reason alone.

He has never assaulted his wife, he was never had a child out of wedlock and he was not fired from the Louisiana Lottery because of sexual harassment. All of these accusations are strictly LIES.

Vincent Pierre is dedicated to helping unite District 44, and the address the issues of the people of that district. Now that all of these accusations have been addressed, the REAL ISSUES of the community are what should be focused on.

Rickey Hardy is an Uncle Tom. Since Pierre was dismissed from the LA Lottery for sexual harassment of a white woman, isn't that hypocritical? It's not OK for Rickey to have white friends, but it's OK for Pierre to pursue, harass, and want to be friends with white women. If Rickey Hardy is an Uncle Tom, then Pierre obviously want to be Baby Daddy. Oh, and Pierre did not "simply resign" from the LA Lottery. Pierre was FIRED, TERMINATED, LET GO, etc for sexual harassment. I know, I work there. Since he was a public employee, paid with taxpayer monies, all of the facts behind this sexual miscreant's termination can, and will, be made public. Pierre has no class nor any character. Mr.Vincent Pierre is actually a Great father to his kids. He is probably in the park right now watching and coaching his kids play baseball as we speak!!!! The factor about him getting a divorce Ok not the first not the last....Now the BS about having another child on the side is just to slander his name, Also he resigned from the Louisiana Lottery Corp. to take his fathers dream to the next level ok.... He has three boys he has a set of twins and also a 4 year old. I actually called Vincent one day to go fishing and his answer was I am spending time with my kids this is my weekend with them. He has family values and has a College Degree. I am not a political genius but.. That crazy mess about having another kid and sexual harrasment.... Vincent Pierre takes a good photograph. But what has he done to deserve replacing Rickey Hardy? Rickey Hardy has served his district well as an independent and effective state representative. He takes orders only from the people who elected him,and brings common sense solutions to some long-time Louisiana problems like failing to educate poor children and wasting our wealth on the politically connected. So when I see that Vincent Pierre wants to run, I have to ask why. Is he really just interested in helping people? I really doubt it given his background. And when his uncle held the job, Wilfred Pierre took hundreds of thousands of taxpayer money destined to tutor poor children, and squandered it by paying himself and his family and friends. Taking money that should have gone to tutor poor children represents the lowest form of self-dealing. So, why change? With Rickey Hardy we know we get a representative who isn't in it for the money, power, or glory. He's trying to help those who need his help, and he asks not a penny for his effort. Pierre is so much like his uncle, that you don't even see him when he's there and that's just what he wants. A low profile, under the radar persona so he can do and take what he wants for him and his family. All at the expense of the taxpayers. Just look at that picture of him: reptillian features and no openess or honesty in his eyes. Just on the basis of the picture, Pierre is not a person to trust with the public trust. On the basis of family history and his personal family as well as his work history, he is not to be around money and/or single women.

Not sure if Pierre is the right choice, but right now you have a person in office who has the mentality of a THREE year old. Rickey Hardy is a "daily comic act" when the House is in session according to people who work in the capital. It's time for this clown to go. There are many cars and houses that need washing; and many yards that need cutting. Time to follow your true calling Rickey.

Wow, now it is below the average man to clean cars and wash houses and cut grass. That is an honest living. Did you not take civics and free enterprise. You do not need a degree to run for office. You are not better that everyone else. There are many everyday normal people holding office in our country. Please respect those who have honest jobs.

That comment about Ricky was probably made because he is the Yard man for Mr.Joey Durel and you never know might be for Gov. Jindal as well. Lot of grass to cut it is hot out there these days! just F.Y.I.

Pierre is a cheat, womanizer, defaults on his child support, has a child out of wedlock, and is a misogynist. With that in mind, you seek to degrade and honest man who represents the poor and working people of his district - no matter what color they are - and who does an honest days work for his pay. You should be at least half as ashamed of yourself as I am for you.

Yard man or not he gets paid for what he does. I would rather have Rickey then some stuck up Joe that thinks that they are better than everybody else. At least we see him everyday. He does not hide from his supports or those who do not support him and he listen to us. We can not say the same for our councilman Brandon Shelvin who has been missing in action for four years. He does not even live in District 3. He never did. Stop supporting people who continue to steal from us. It is time that someone like Rickey stand up to those who think they are better than everyone else. Get real people. The truth hurts. Change is coming. It is time for Change.

Anyone who says they know Pierre and that he has values is not mistaken. Pierre values bilking the public, lieing about his extramarital affairs, lieing about having a child out of wedlock, lieing about being fired for sexual harassment, lieing about defaulting on his child support, and lieing to/avoiding the media on any questions relative to any of the preceding. Pierre values the money his uncle so easily manipulated into his pockets and the pockets of his cronies. So those who say they "knows he has values" are cut from the same cloth of lies. We don't need yet another Pierre. District 44 needs the honesty and integrity of Rickey Hardy. Again.
