C’est what? Williams sues LHA

Former Lafayette City-Parish Councilman Chris Williams has filed suit against the Lafayette Housing Authority seeking back wages, penalties and attorney’s fees. The suit, filed late last week in state district court in Lafayette, accuses the LHA of breach of contract between the federally funded housing agency and Williams’ non-profit Lafayette Training and Career Development Center, Inc., which was hired in January of 2008 by the LHA to provide training to Hurricane Katrina evacuees through the federal Disaster Housing Assistance Program.

Williams, through the LTCDC, was initially hired at a rate of $16.08 per hour working 80 hours bi-weekly for a $1,286 paycheck every two weeks plus a $300 car allowance. The contract was renewed in December of that year to extend until March 31, 2010, increasing Williams’ hourly take to $30 and his bi-weekly paycheck to $3,260 — this while Williams was working a full-time job in the Special Services Department at UL Lafayette.

Williams’ herculean work load — simultaneous “full-time” jobs — was brought to light as a result of an independent audit on the LHA, an audit that led state and federal officials to investigate DHAP. In August of 2010, as the LHA saga spiralled out of control — its top executives would soon resign their positions amid intense federal scrutiny and unflattering media coverage — the agency terminated DHAP and canned Williams.

Williams claims in his suit that in the spring of 2010, the LHA extended DHAP through October of that year and that Williams “consented to the extension and Williams and LTCDC continued to provide case manager services for LHA,” according to the suit, although the lawsuit makes no claim that Williams and his non-profit had a contractual relationship with the housing authority beyond March 31, 2010.

Williams cites a clause in the contract with LHA stipulating that the housing agency was required to give him 30 days notice for terminating the DHAP contract.

Why haven't criminal charges been brought against Williams and the others? Oh, I get it, they are ALL black and, thus, are above the law because if a black person is sued or held accountable for unlawful and/or immoral behavior it is discrimination!!! Too bad people like this give all the good people in the black community a black eye. Oops, that's probably not PC, let's say they give all the good people a bad name and bring shame on the community, not to mention the terrible example they set for the children.

Where is the FBI, the Inspector General, the LA State Police, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Dept., and all the rest of our police state authorities? Where is AG "Buddy" Caldwell's office and what the hell are they doing concerning this travesity? Hmmmmm... All things being equal, Chris "The Thief" Williams will wind up with Ed Rubin, Jules "Thug Lawyer" Edwards, or Herman "Atta Boy Bobby Badon" Clause as his ersatz judge thereby having any and all monies he seeks awarded to him with no problem.

Why is the system broke. Look not further than Dr. Williams.
He is the best example of a poverty pimpster there is. He was not satified with taking money from DHAP while working 40 hours a week at UL and 40 hrs a week at SMILE>
The LHA has already settled with 2 of the thieves without a challenge. HUD is more concerned with there image than justice. Why does UL and the Blanco's keep him around. They are laying off good professors and letting Mr. Internet Dr. PHD Williams alone. What does he have on them???????????????

It's politics. Somewhere at a larger stage, state or national, someone thinks they need Chris Williams to deliver a block of voters. So they cause the judicial system to back off, with BS excuses like, file not complete, waiting for such and such to happen first, etc.

Tuition hikes, but UL keeps "Baby Doc" Williams on the trough...uh, payroll. Not surprising behavior for a university where a dept head can steal thousands and be allowed to settle for pennies on the dollar and retire with full benefits!

What an embarassment to UL, or maybe even neglect on their part. Either he was working for them those hours, or he wasn't. I'm now concerned with who and what UL Laf has on the payroll. As the university continues to raise tuition instead of trying to keep costs down, I now wonder what other crooks my tuition pays for.....
