Jefferson charged, suspended indefinitely

Visions of Ryan Perrilloux must be dancing in Les Miles’ head.

The Tigers’ starting quarterback, senior Jordan Jefferson, and reserve linebacker Josh Johns, a sophomore, turned themselves in to Baton Rouge police Friday after being charged with felony second-degree battery. Miles issued indefinite suspensions for both shortly after.

The two were involved in a bar fight Aug. 19 at Shady’s bar in Baton Rouge.

Jefferson and Johns have been implicated with teammates Chris Davenport and Jarvis Landry in the fight that left one person seriously injured. Three others were also injured. The Advocate reported that the arrest warrants accuse Jefferson and Johns of kicking a man while he was lying on the ground and the warrant claims the man who was kicked suffered “extreme physical pain and unconsciousness.”

Without Jefferson, Jarrett Lee will start at quarterback for the season opener Sept. 3 against Oregon in the Cowboys Classic in Arlinton’s Cowboys Stadium.

Just another example of unacceptable behavior by a college athlete. Don't want to get in a bar fight, then don't go to a bar. You will have plenty of time to do that after the season or when your playing in the arena league. This is what you get when you place a higher value on physical prowess rather than on character. Where are the Drew Brees & Peyton Manning type of quarterbacks in the NCAA that were both great on and off the field?

No surprised by this outcome. Just leads me to believe that when you place a higher value on physical prowess rather than on character you get this kind of unacceptable behavior. The point here is not whether he was provoked or not its why he was in a bar in a first place.

I hope Jarrett Lee doesn't have a repeat of his first starting season. How many interceptions and pick-sixes did he throw?

It really does not matter as to how many interceptions Jarrett throws, you'd be surprised what a Jarrett may throw when he finds himself with the load on his back and the responsibility on his shoulders, don't write him off, this is when men are made from boys...
