La. GOP growth has lagged behind electoral gains

Although the Louisiana Democratic Party has been hemorrhaging white voters over the last decade, the loss has largely not translated into proportional gains for state Republicans, a new Advocate analysis finds. Rather, many disaffected Dems have simply dropped their party registration altogether, or they’ve found a home in a third party.

According to state voter-registration figures, 52 percent of white voters were Democrats a decade ago, compared to 30 percent for Republicans and 18 percent for other parties. Republicans now lead Democrats 38-37 percent among white voters, yet while the Democratic rolls declined by 15 percent during the decade, the GOP gained only 8 percent.

Maybe the concentration should be on electing good people instead of worrying about party affilliation. Repubilcan, Democrat, Tea, Independant.... Who cares as long as their policies, beliefs and MOST of all VOTING RECORD reflects your beliefs.
