Laf. delegation goes whole hog for Dardenne

As Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser’s campaign struggles through negative publicity over a flubbed endorsement announcement, Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne continues to rack up formal support of his own.

After picking up 23 mayoral endorsements Wednesday, Dardenne swept the Lafayette proper delegation Thursday. Sen.-elect Page Cortez, Sen. Mike Michot, Rep.-elect Stuart Bishop and Reps. Rickey Hardy, Nancy Landry and Joel Robideaux threw their support to the incumbent at a 3 p.m. press conference held at the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission. (Hardy, who was out campaigning in his boxing gloves, did not attend the press conference.)

Nungesser and Dardenne are both Republicans.

I thought that Billy Nungesser was doing a really great job fighting for Louisiana after that dreadful event in the Gulf last year. However, after hearing his disgraceful and vitriolic rhetoric regarding his opponent, he is certainly not a person I would vote for.

I will never vote for any of these guys again. I can make up my own mind. If any of you were running I would vote against you.

I agree with Barb. I don't need my local delegation's endorsement to make up my mind. They think we care? Besides, some of them are responsible for the ongoing problems this state is dealing with today.

Well, that helps me decide which ones of them not to vote for Saturday! As for Michot...Big Surprise, he'll be supporting Mary Landrieu next...

Who cares what these politicians think or say. they are supposed to be representing us not dictating who to vote for, as if their opinion matters. politicians think they are there to govern us, sorry but that's not the way it's supposed to be.

If these vipers are supporting, its reason enough to run the other way.... I have no reason to not give the other guy a chance. Louisiana needs to start moving again & I'm pretty open to some new people getting a chance to do that.

Isn't that the same group that supports Don Bertrand?

The point of endorsement by other politicians is to say that we work well together, or see that we will work well together. Look at the each candidate's record of accomplishment, then make your decision.

This made up my mind about who I'm voting for. Be sure to read the comment thread.

That, and the fact that Vitter endorsed Nungesser. Nuff said, in my opinion.

Sounds like Vitter is supporting Nungesser because they both visited the same Madame. His PR person, Amy Jones, really blew the election by lying about his endorsements.

I'm sure Jones was just following orders. However, if my orders were to lie to the people I'm supposed to serve, I'd start taking orders from someone else. Like, my conscious, maybe.
