Gr-r-reat! Judge nixes Sandlin motion

A Baton Rouge district court judge has batted away Tiger Truck Stop owner Michael Sandlin’s motion for a new trial over his permit to keep a 550-pound Siberian-Bengal tiger at his Grosse Tete business, according to The Advocate. In November Sandlin was ordered to move the tiger, named Tony, from the truck stop after an animal-right’s groups successfully sued the state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries over Sandlin’s permit.

Sandlin’s attorney has vowed to appeal to the 1st Circuit. Sandlin has said he will send the animal to the GW Exotic Animal Memorial Park in Oklahoma if he exhausts his appeals.
