Roemer gaining ground in NH?

roemer_rocketFormer Louisiana congressman and Gov. Buddy Roemer has jumped ahead of sagging, silly Texas Gov. Rick Perry in a new poll in New Hampshire, an early and hence important primary state in the Republican presidential-nomination machine.

A press release on Roemer’s campaign website headlined “Perry trails even Buddy Roemer in new N.H. poll” cites a Suffolk University/7NEWS poll released this week showing Perry garnering a pathetic 1 percent support among likely Granite State primary voters — half the under-whelming support Roemer enjoys at 2 percent, which is tied with Rick Santorum and Herman Cain, the latter of whom quit the contest just over a week ago. The error margin, however, is plus/minus 4.9 percent, so Roemer conceivably could be hovering near 7 percent.

The poll reflects Perry’s plummet more than any new traction by Roemer, who remains mired in “no chance to secure the nomination” territory. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leads the pack at 38 percent, followed by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 20. The only moderate in the race who isn’t named Romney — former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman — is running third at 13 percent.
