Whether it's for Halloween or Mardi Gras, it's never a bad time to masquerade. Healing House brilliantly paired up this theme with Party Girl's favorite drink for an evening of Martinis & Masquerade at à la carte. Many guests came disguised in masks adorned with feathers and glitter, and Madeline Simon and Hope Hebert's red masks went perfectly with their black cocktail dresses. A silent auction with a hot package from Mr. Lester's and extra touches like a martini ice sculpture fountain, tapas spread and a chocolate fountain on loan from Joey and Lynn Durel made for a great party. "It was elegant and people had a lot of fun," says Healing House's Alison Breaux. Party Girl is happy to report that Martinis & Masquerade will be an annual event, so if you missed it this year, start working on your mask for 2006!

Prejean's Restaurant had some excitement last month when George Bush Sr. made a private appearance at Belle Chase Naval Air Station, where Prejean's has been feeding the National Guard troops three meals a day. Bush thanked the soldiers and enjoyed a Prejean's meal, along with Gov. Kathleen Blanco and Mayor Ray Nagin. In addition to a full stomach, Bush left with a Prejean's cookbook.

If you're a fan of the Vivian Alexander egg purse or just heading toward Maurice, stop in at VA's new gallery and museum, which celebrated its opening with a ribbon cutting recently. Open by appointment seven days a week, guests can just call ahead and let Alex Caldwell know they're coming. He's very flexible about giving free tours, and on display are the famous Oceans 12 Egg, Smirnoff Egg, Touched by an Angel Egg and Christmas and Mardi Gras designs. You can also get an egg custom designed for yourself or a special gift. Christmas is coming!
