Ann Laurent donned a perfect little black party dress and a glittering tiara for her 50th birthday party recently, and shared the special night with dozens of family members and friends including her best buds from high school. Following Ann's testimonial and stroll down memory lane, The Robbie Bush Band lured couples to the dance floor to enjoy some favorite tunes. There were lots of smiles all around ' beautiful ones, of course, for one of Lafayette's favorite dentists! Joining the soiree were Mark and Tammy Milam, Pat and Teemie Landry, Craig and Susan Strait, Glenn and Dana Armentor and George and Roxanne Graham.

Elsewhere on the celebration front, Unitech Training Academy recently commemorated its 10th year of providing job training and education for the health profession in Acadiana. The 10-year anniversary gala was held at the Lafayette Hilton and Towers, where Unitech owners Deanna and Danny Head were pleased to present their dedicated employees with several awards for achievement and performance. Deanna was also honored by Sen. Mike Michot with a proclamation from Gov. Kathleen Blanco honoring Unitech Training Academy for its decade of service as a proprietary school in Louisiana. Noah Brandon and Brooks Powell helped Deanna and Danny give out the awards.

Party Girl decided to round out the evening by stopping by the American Heart Association's annual gala. Brent Lavergne of e'Loquince turned The Petroleum Club into "A Night of Passion" with black, white and red decoration. To set the mood, the Jazz Quartet from UL Lafayette played, and lots of delicious hors d'oeuvres were passed around before the program honoring John J. Burden. After a martini, I lingered over the pasta station and ran into attorney Mike Skinner, who is running for district attorney next year. I keep my politics and partying separate, so I wished Mike good luck and headed to the dance floor!
