STM grad turned LSU standout outfielder Mikie Mahtook is one of two Tiger players to land a spot on the SEC All Freshman Team. Mahtook joins his fellow teammate, relief pitcher Matty Ott, who was also named Co-Freshmen of the Year by a vote of the league’s 12 head baseball coaches.
Alabama outfielder Kent Matthes was selected 2009 SEC Baseball Player of the Year, LSU’s Louis Coleman was named SEC Pitcher of the Year, and Florida first baseman Preston Tucker shares the co-freshmen honor. The coaches also selected LSU’s Paul Mainieri as SEC Coach of the Year.
