Tis springtime again almost…and that can only mean a few things: gallant poets riding white horses and spouting noble poems of undying love, a profound proliferation of allergies, Lent, an end to this tiresome cold weather, and a ton of festival events. Lafayette has no shortage of series festivals. Downtown Alive! Bach Lunch, and Rhythms on the River all kick off their Spring 2010 seasons in March (DTA, Bach Lunch) and April (Rhythms on the River). A community tradition for 26 years and a popular staple in Acadiana’s cultural calendar, the Downtown Alive! 2010 series kicks off March 12. Nobody does it like DTA to bring great entertainment in the form of free, family-friendly, smoke free, outdoor concerts to downtown Lafayette.

Acadiana is no stranger to festivals. When spring hits there’s practically one every weekend celebrating everything from crawfish to crayons. This weekend the Geronimo Music Festival celebrates independent rock and roll music. In two short years the Geronimo Music Festival has become one of Lafayette’s best gatherings for local and regional bands who specialize in creating original music that challenges the listener. “Geronimo is designed to display and celebrate the area’s rock & roll, indie, and modern progressive music and art movement,” says Tiffany Lamson, one of the festival organizers.
